GEST System Architecture
Call Buttons — Custom IoT Hardware
GEST call buttons are custom-designed electronic devices housed in premium materials — brushed aluminium, glass, and high-grade plastics — that match the aesthetic standards of luxury yacht interiors and five-star hotel rooms. Each button houses a capacitive touch sensor, a status LED ring, a BLE 4.2 radio module, and a coin-cell battery providing 2+ years of operation without replacement. Touch activation sends an encrypted BLE advertisement to the GEST controller, which decodes the call event, timestamps it, and routes the notification to staff within seconds. The button’s LED ring provides visual confirmation of call receipt, giving guests immediate feedback that their request has been registered.
GEST Controller — The Intelligence Layer
The GEST controller — a wall-mounted or cabinet-mounted device running STM32 firmware — manages BLE communication with up to 32 call buttons simultaneously, maintains the call queue, applies routing rules, and communicates with the GEST cloud backend via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The controller’s local processing capability ensures continued operation even during network connectivity loss: calls are queued and staff notifications delivered via BLE or local Wi-Fi even when cloud connectivity is temporarily unavailable, providing the operational reliability that luxury environments demand.
