The challenge
Keyless entry devices usually fail in one of three ways: they stop working with their app after a few years, they look like plastic gadgets on premium doors, or they become one more isolated ecosystem with its own account. Perrugi was designed to avoid all three — a device built for the door it sits in, secure by design and open to the systems around it.
Our approach
We designed Perrugi as one system. The physical layer — tempered glass, milled aluminium and our own electronics — came first; firmware, the app and the integrations were built around it. Electronic and mechanical engineering is done in Bielsko-Biała, and the product is manufactured in Poland.
What FSS built, layer by layer
- 3.52″ IPS touchscreen, 320 × 480 px
- Integrated fingerprint reader, PIN keypad (up to 8 digits) and NFC reader
- Accelerometer-based tamper sensor; encryption keys held in a Secure Element
- Tempered-glass front (hardness ≥ 6H, IK08) in a milled, anodised aluminium housing
- IP65, −30 °C to +85 °C, 10–32 V DC, protected open-drain lock output up to 3 A, 119 × 70 × 16.5 mm
- Four independent access methods: fingerprint, PIN, NFC card, mobile app
- Brute-force lockout with an increasing wait after failed PIN attempts
- Real-time tamper alerts (forcing, removal, impact)
- Dynamic one-time and time-limited guest codes
- Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 with end-to-end encryption
- NFC cards and fobs — access granted and revoked in seconds
- perrugi:brain — an encrypted CAN 2.0 lock bus (AES-256-GCM with replay protection) for electric strikes and motor locks
- REST API and MQTT with full developer documentation
- Smart-home integrations: Home Assistant, Apple HomeKit, Matter
- Real-time access logs and push notifications for entries, tamper attempts and low battery
- iOS and Android
- Remote opening, user management, access history
- One-time, time-limited and guest codes
- Frame or surface mounting through a universal fixing system
- Housing finish and app interface in the partner’s brand identity
- A growing family on one app: perrugi:palm, perrugi:brain, perrugi:vocal (doorbell)
- No subscription fees for the device or the app
Outcome
- A product family rather than a single device: palm, brain and vocal share one app and one mounting system.
- OEM-ready for door and gate manufacturers — documented API, MQTT and a white-label option.
- The same FSS team and stack that built Perrugi is available for client products.
