The challenge
Drivers who want to improve on track need to know exactly where they gain and lose time — corner by corner, not just per lap. That takes position data that is both frequent and precise, and an app that makes comparing runs effortless.
Our approach
ReDrive started as an internal FSS R&D project. We designed the device and the app as one product: the device logs position 20 times per second, and the app stores every run, detects laps automatically and compares the current run against the previous one in real time. Hardware and software were developed together and the device is manufactured in-house.
What FSS built, layer by layer
- Dedicated GPS device logging position 20 times per second
- Accuracy down to 5 cm — speed, acceleration, braking distance and route
- Designed and developed by FSS, hardware and firmware together
- Automatic lap detection
- Real-time comparison of the current run against the previous one
- Corner-by-corner analysis of where time is gained and lost
- Phone and tablet app paired with the device
- Stores every run and compares laps
- Results can be shared with other drivers
- Manufactured in-house by FSS
- No hand-offs between design, software and production
Outcome
- A complete consumer product built by one team — device, firmware, app and manufacturing.
- Precise, comparable data from every run on a track or rally sprint.
- The same prototype-to-production path FSS uses for client hardware.
